“Regional development will be a priority in order to enable those in the fringes of our country,” said Philippine Economic Zone Authority’s (PEZA) Deputy Director General Harriet Abordo in line with the first goal for the roadmap.
Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and PEZA forward the implementation of Contact Center Association’s (CCAP) Roadmap 2022. The purpose of the roadmap is to strengthen the government’s support in the local information technology-business process management (IT-BPM) industry.
Abordo explained that the Philippine government aims to expand the local industry outside Metro Manila. This includes establishing new business districts and building of more office spaces to encourage foreign companies to invest in the country. Moreover, she mentioned that PEZA will continue to support the industry through tax incentives. “Inclusive growth is the mandate of the President and also the director general,” Abordo said.
Meanwhile, Philippine Software Industry Association President Jonathan de Luzuriaga supported the government’s initiative to reach larger markets outside Metro Manila. He emphasized that focusing the government intervention in expanding outside Metro Manila is essential to maintain a global competitive edge.
